Evaluation of the Executive Director

The board shall perform periodic written job performance evaluations for the college’s Executive Director, including a salary review, to be coordinated by the board Chair, and relying on input from the board as a whole, as well as other stakeholders.

Purpose or Scope

A job performance evaluation should ideally be completed annually. It may be conducted less frequently at the board’s discretion. The evaluation process should be iterative, and should include a self evaluation component. It should also include information provided by stakeholders. The board may use its discretion in formulating the evaluation process, but a combination of qualitative (open ended feedback) and quantitative (standardized response scale) information from stakeholders is desirable. The use of a rubric is recommended. The ED should be provided with the opportunity to comment on initial drafts. The finalized document should include a review of compensation and pay rates. The finalized document should be circulated to the ED and the board each year, ideally no later than 1 month following the hire anniversary.
